We went to Ellie's first conference on Thursday. It really was no surprise for us, even though I was a little nervous the night before. Andrew reminded me that it was just Kindergarten but, like any parent, I want her to be successful. A recap: she knows 11/11 colors, 8/8 shapes, can count to 39 unassisted, recognized 10/12 numbers and knew all of her capital letters but missed four lowercase letters. She is very social, can work independently, follows classroom rules, respects personal space, has nice manners, raises her hand and accepts responsibility for her actions. She, however, struggles with taking her time while working, following directions, listening and using self control. Overall, her teacher thought she was right on track and enjoys having her in her classroom. She also liked it when Andrew volunteered during Center Time because he is so good with pretend play, the kids were having a blast playing with him. Ellie's class just finished a section in gym where they got to roller skate (first picture) and she had a blast. They also got a surprise visit from the fire department and got to see a real fire truck spray water and talk to the fire men and see their equipment.
Scaling the hill!!
Raking leaves!!
Since there is the chance of snow tomorrow, we got out and enjoyed the beautiful day!!! Andrew did some yard work and the girls played in the yard and in the sand pit. Ellie tied a rope to a little tree which they then pretended to need help and took turns rescuing eachother.
The garden is done for the year and looks a little sad with out all of the plants and veggies!!! We sure enjoyed it though and in fact became a little spoiled. I purchased baby carrots the other day and Ellie thought they were icky and wouldn't eat them!
