And we're off!!!

First grade, preschool and figure skating started this week. Meirah's dance classes will start next week. The busyness will now commence!! Meirah will be attending preschool two days a week and her first day was last Tuesday!! Nervous she was not. She walked right in and had a blast. They even had their first field trip on Thursday (because NOW we are actually having summery weather) and went to the Itasca State Park. She is having such an easy time transitioning we are thinking about having her go three days a week. There is the option of full time but of course the cost is more and then I would have to go back to work full time. So excited!! The all important back pack! Weird first day of school face.
Eliana started first grade at a new school this year. Our new house is in a different elementary school district. Actually I am pleased with this school as it is smaller (only 26 kids in her class) and it has recently won a couple of achievement awards from the State: one for reading scores and one for overall excellence. The only one out of the 6 in the district.
She also started figure skating lessons. We gave both girls the option of doing dance, gymnastics or figure skating. Meirah choose dance and Eliana was all over the skating lessons. She has wanted to skate for a couple of years now and is excited to take the lessons. She really wants to skate on the lake and considering she lives in northern MN she will have ample opportunity to do so. She has also been asking about Girl Scouts but I think we need to limit the time away from home (the two schools are almost 30 minutes away from each other, the activities are in town and our house is west of town!!) plus we are probably going to have the girls join Bible Buddies at church on Wednesdays. This is why we have a "no activities" rule for the summers!!! That probably won't last long (Eliana wants to join soccer!) but we'll take what we can get!

Looks like she is already stable on her feet skating. Good job, Eliana.
