the eagle has landed

Well, actually Mimi has landed....on the potty that is. We had some success this week with Mimi; she used the potty here at home 3 or 4 times and once at daycare (we think, this report is unconfirmed). She is slowly getting the hang of it. She sure loves wearing her panties like her big sister and Hershey kisses as a reward can't hurt! I am afraid though, that the combination of only being able to work on potty training on the weekends and her disinterest may make for a long haul. I guess we have a few more months of diaper purchasing in our future.

I think we are all suffering from a bad case of cabin fever....Spring is not quite here yet and another cold snap last week did not help us feel hopeful. It's gets hard to keep the girls entertained and after a while they just end up getting into things they shouldn't and making a mess. Usually what happens is they are in one room making a mess while we are in an other room cleaning up the previous mess and then when we finish up that room we move into the new mess and repeat. It's a vicious cycle really. The girls have been short with each other too, I have broken several little girl brawls this weekend!! Mimi gets feisty and starts swinging and or throwing!! Thankfully I think she is past her biting stage...poor Ellie was the recipient of several Mimi bites. Not to say she was innocent. She is usually the instigator and fills the role of bossy big sister quite well. Today was above freezing so Andrew and the girls went out to play and it was so nice to cook supper without them underfoot.

(Evidence: this is what their room looks like after a morning of play!)

Ellie continues to do well in dance class. She is really a natural and has been dancing since she was just 2. We have video footage of her interpreting and dancing to all kinds of music. When I watch her with her class it is easy to notice that she has an inherent athletic ability and is very graceful. She has several of the classical ballet dance positions down pat and it appears to be her forte. They also do tap and even though she likes this part of her class it is not as natural as ballet. They are now practicing for their Spring show and we had to plunk down $50 for her costume. Thankfully she will wear it in a couple of performances. Meirah loves to go to class as well and is not happy unless she is wearing a dance outfit too. She cannot join until she is three but she loves to watch the big girls dance and even knows some of the ballet positions!!

Andrew has been sick these past three weeks...nothing major but just under the weather and tired. This is a tough time of year...the cold and snow just drags on yet a lot of colds and the flu start going around, we run out things to do and to top it all off nicely, lots of stress at work.Ah well, it's times like these we have to really think about all that we have been blessed with because there are too many to count!!!
