We took advantage of a break in the weather to spend a "fun day" sledding, swimming and eating out two weekends ago. We started the day by heading down to Lake Bemidji to sled. The hill there is mild and since the girls are novice sledders we thought that would be a good place to start. However since we have had only one major snow fall the hill was slick and slippery from use! The girls had a blast though and I was quite surprised by Mimi. She is not a go getter and I though the cold would make her crabby and the slippery hill would make her cry....but she loved it. They discarded the sled and went down on their bottoms and tummies instead. We ended leaving not because they were done but because I was cold!!!
The first trip down.....
So papa had to go down and dry some tears. After that....
it was all smiles!
Even Andrew got in on the action.
Down on her Tummy!
A lot of other families were enjoying the hill too!
Lake Bemidji becomes it's own town during ice fishing season. the big building in the background is the BREC (Bemidji Regonial Event Center).
After sledding we went to the pool to swim and sit in the hot tub. Our plans were dashed though because the hot tub was really on luke warm that day but oh well, the girls still had fun swimming. After we finished up at the pool we headed to Perkins were Andrew and I had supper and the girls had dessert. We allowed them to have dessert for supper as a treat to end our fun day. We just got a another big snowfall so if the temps ease up we might go sledding again soon..it was a big hit with the girls!! Brings back memories of flying down grandma Jeans hill on an inner tube, hoping to avoid the telephone pole and staying on the tube!
